ACEH JAYA

Calang, the capital city of Aceh Jaya is on the west coast of Nagrroe Aceh Darussalam looking over the Indian Ocean. Calang was completely destroyed by the tsunami and it is now being rebuilt.
Being on the coast it has beautiful views over the ocean.
From Banda Aceh it takes about 4 to 5 hours by public transport to reach there; buses and smaller minibuses leave throughout the day in both directions.

The Grave of Po Teumeureuhom Daya

Po Teumeureuhom Daya was a famous king from the Daya Kingdom – 17th century. He organized a lot of traditions and religion in Aceh. His grave is located in Kuala Daya, 5km from Lam No. Behind the grave there is beach which is good for swimming and snorkeling.

Natural Caves

There are several caves in the Lam No area with nice scenery and different backgrounds.
Below Geureutee cave there is another cave said to hold the mysteries of the cave men. According to local people, footprints of cavemen were found in the cave but the owners of the footprints remain a mystery.

Kuala Dho

Kuala Dho is a small village located three kilometers from Lageun and seven kilometers from Rigaih, north of Calang. This place has an attractive white sandy beach. Organizations who arrived to help in the area after the tsunami have built small bungalows on the beach. It is a good place for swimming and sunbathing.

Lhok Geulumpanh Beach

Just north of Kuala Dho is a nice, white sandy beach, Lhok Geulumpanh. In the forest behind the beach there is a lot of wild flora and fauna to be seen. .

Kuala Jubit Beach

Kuala Jubit Beach is another beautiful beach near Lhok Geulumpanh. There are plenty of bungalows near the beach here which makes it very popular.

Jungle Trek

The areas surrounding Kuala Doh are good for jungle trekking. There are still areas with wild flora and fauna to be discovered.
